Group Sales

For groups of 10 children (Ages 2-16) or more, Discovery Theater offers discounted tickets. That means your school group or daycare can save money off of individual ticket prices!  The discount only applies to reservations made in advance.  Please see the Reservations & Payment Policies section below for more information.

Ticket Prices:

$5 Children (Ages 2-16)
$5 Adults (1 free adult for every 15 child tickets purchased)
$3 Children under Age 2

Note: There are no group discounts for ‘walk up’ groups on the day of a show.  Group prices are only available for those who make and pay for reservations in advance.

 

How to make a reservation:

Groups can make a reservation by phone or fax.  We do not accept group reservations online or via email.

Click Here to download a request form to print and fax for reservations.  The form must be filled out in its entirety; incomplete forms will not be accepted. Keep in mind your order is not finalized until you receive a faxed confirmation or email from us.

Group Sales Information:

Small Group (10-19 children):
-Full payment is due at the time of the reservation via credit card.

-If needed, you may cancel your order up to 4 weeks before the show and a full refund will be given.

-If you cancel after that date, a credit may be given and is at the discretion of the Box Office Manager.

Standard Group (20-99 children):
-A credit card is required at the time of the reservation to hold your order (the card is not charged at this time).

-Full payment is due by the date printed on your invoice (usually 2 weeks before the show).

-Order may be canceled up to 4 weeks before the show; final changes are due 2 weeks before the show.

-Payment can be made by check, money order, cash (in person), or credit card.  Payment is NOT accepted on the day of your performance.

-If payment is not received by the due date, the credit card on file will be charged.

-Your order is final upon receipt of payment.  No refunds will be given for canceled tickets after that time.  A credit may be given and is at the discretion of the Box Office Manager.

-If a credit card is declined and efforts to contact the group leader are unsuccessful, tickets will be released and all orders will be canceled (including any future performances you may have reserved).

Large Group (100+ children):
-A non-refundable 20% deposit via credit card is required at the time of the reservation.

-Balance is due by the date printed on your invoice (usually 4 weeks before the show).

-Order may be canceled up to 4 weeks before the show; final changes are also due 4 weeks before the show.

-Payment can be made by check, money order, cash (in person), or credit card.  Payment is NOT accepted on the day of your performance.

-If payment is not received by the due date, the credit card on file will be charged for the remaining balance.

-Your order is final upon receipt of payment.  No refunds will be given for canceled tickets after that time.  A credit may be given and is at the discretion of the Box Office Manager.

-If credit card is declined and efforts to contact the group leader are unsuccessful, tickets will be released and all orders will be canceled (including any future performances you may have reserved).

 

Seating & Latecomers:

-Seating for all programs is general admission. Groups should plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before their scheduled performances.

-For performances in Discovery Theater and the Air & Space Museum, children will be seated on the carpeted floor in designated sections.  Adults will be seated in chairs alongside the children and on the risers.  For performances in an auditorium (Baird, Carmichael, etc.), everyone will be in seats, with children in the middle of rows and adults on the end.

-We do our best to seat smaller children up front and to seat all members of your group together; however this is not possible if your group is late.  Please make every effort to be on time.

-Late seating is at the discretion of the House Manager and will be done during an appropriate break in the show.  Late groups are typically seated on the risers in the back of the room to minimize disruption.  Groups that arrive more than 25 minutes late will be given the option to reschedule (pending availability) or see the remainder of the performance.  Keep in mind, all programs run approximately 45 minutes.

If you require special assistance, please call 202-633-8700 to speak to Discovery Theater staff, or email us at Info@DiscoveryTheater.org.  If you require the services of an interpreter, please contact us at least 2 weeks prior to your performance.

 

Exchanges and Refund Policy:

All ticket sales are final.  There are NO REFUNDS on tickets once payment is received.

A group may change dates by their payment due date (pending availability) without penalty.  If your school/center closes due to inclement weather, your account will be credited for a performance later in the season.  Due to the schedule and availability, we cannot guarantee the same performance.  If Discovery Theater closes (in the case of the federal government closing or inclement weather), you will have the option of rescheduling for another performance or receiving a refund.
