A Closer Look – About the Artist

Daniel Barash is happy to be returning to the Smithsonian¹s Discovery Theater. As the founding director of THE SHADOW PUPPET WORKSHOP, he holds a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from New York University. Certified in New York State, he led arts-in-education workshops for more than a decade in the Metro New York region before relocating to Metro DC in 2006. Daniel has pioneered the use of shadow puppetry, an ancient Asian art form, in diverse secular and Jewish settings.

Over the past two years, Daniel has performed in dozens of regional venues, including the National Building Museum, The Phillips Collection, Smithsonian¹s Discovery Theater (2006), Smithsonian Early Enrichment Centers, public and private schools, and many local libraries.
