Group Sales Information

If you have a group of 10 children or more (ages 2-16), Discovery Theater offers discounted tickets. That means your group can save money off individual ticket prices! The discount only applies to reservations made in advance; group discounts are not available on the day of a show. See the Group Sales Policy section for more information.

Terms & Conditions


How to make a reservation

1. If you would just like to check on availability of a date or have question about group sales, feel free to email us at Info@DiscoveryTheater.org.

2. Once you are ready to make a reservation, we ask that you first read our Group Sales Policy below. Once you have read our policy, give us a call at 202-633-8700 (Our current hours are Tuesday – Thursday, 10am to 4pm) to make your reservation.

NOTE: at this time, we can ONLY take group reservations via phone. Please DO NOT email us your reservation or attempt to purchase multiple blocks of tickets online at full price; we will not be able to discount your tickets after your purchase.


Group Sales Policy

Please note: The policies below are in place for groups in good financial standing with Discovery Theater. We reserve the right to adjust the policy as needed if a group has a history of not adhering to the cancel by and/or payment due deadlines listed on the invoice.

Small Groups (10-19 children)
1. Payment: Full payment is due at the time of the reservation via credit card.
2. Cancellations: Orders may be cancelled at any time. A full refund will only be given when the order is cancelled at least four weeks prior to the date of the show. Cancellations made within four weeks of the date of the show will be given a credit instead of a refund.

Standard Group (20+ children)

  1. Payment:
    1. A credit card is required at the time of your reservation to hold your tickets. Your card will be charged $1.00 at the time of booking to hold your order.
    2. Your balance is due by the date printed on your invoice. Payment is normally due 2 weeks before the show for groups of 20-100 people and 4 weeks before the show for groups for 100+ people.
    3. Changes to the number of people in your group can be made up until your payment due date/final payment is made.
    4. Payment can be made by check, money order, cash (in-person only & must be arranged with Discovery Theater Staff), or credit card. Payment is not accepted on the day of your show.
    5. If your school mails a check for the entire amount, the original $1.00 hold that was charged to the credit card at the time of reservation will be refunded back to the credit card and the check will be applied to the entire order.
    6. If payment is not received by the due date, the credit card on file will be charged for the remaining balance.
    7. Your order is final upon receipt of payment. No refunds will be given for canceled tickets after that time. A credit may be given and is at the discretion of Discovery Theater. In the case of unused tickets on the day of your show, a credit must be requested at the Box Office upon arrival.
    8. Additional tickets can be purchased after payment has been made, pending availability. Tickets are not usually available at the door (due to shows selling out) so please contact us in advance if you have any extra students or chaperones that will need tickets.
    9. If a credit card is declined and efforts to contact the group leader are unsuccessful, tickets will be released and all orders, including any future performances you may have reserved, will be canceled.
  2. Cancellations:
    1. Orders may be canceled up to four weeks prior to the show.
    2. Orders canceled within the four weeks prior to the show will not receive a refund. If payment has not yet been received, you are still obligated to pay the invoice.

Exchanges and Refund Policy

All ticket sales are final. There are no refunds on tickets once payment is received. A group may change their show date by their payment due date (pending availability) without penalty. If your school/center closes due to inclement weather, your account will be credited for a performance later in the season. Due to our schedule and availability, we cannot guarantee the same performance. If Discovery Theater closes and a performance is canceled (in the case of the federal government closing or inclement weather), you will have the option of rescheduling for another performance or receiving a refund.
