Discovery Theater produces three to five shows per season. General auditions are usually held during the summer; as well as throughout the year on an as-needed basis. Intern with the largest museum theatre program in the country, at America’s most prestigious cultural institution! Smithsonian Associates’ Discovery Theater presents a 10-month season of over 30 educational programs for children with 300 performances on weekdays. As an intern you learn by doing, training, and utilizing skills in Box Office, House Management, Production Assistance and Arts Administration. Group ticket phone sales, project management skills, editing and proofing in an intimate office setting are also part of the average day. Opportunity for hands-on work abounds in a small, educational theatre setting. This unpaid Smithsonian internship can be arranged for full-time or part-time; and for the full school year, one semester, or a summer internship.
Ideal for undergraduate and post graduate students interested in the fields of arts education, museum theatre, children’s programming, and arts administration.
