Grandma's here! Let's start making puppets, cooking together, washing the car, and learning about fun ways to celebrate friends and family. This musical play with a great big heart features singing, finger play, and call-and-response as we all give thanks for being together.

About the Play: In 2013, Discovery Theater developed an innovative arts/education program for DCPS early education teachers and their students in classrooms which implemented the “Tools of the Mind” curriculum. Multiple plays were created as part of in-school residencies promoting creativity, enriched play, and student-led inquiry in early childhood classrooms. These plays are now presented at the Smithsonian as 'Discovery Plays' for our youngest learners to encourage everyone to 'get into the act.' Playing 'pretend' as characters in stories encourages sequencing (what comes next?), verbal skills (what color flowers? why did it happen like that?), math (how many cupcakes? let's count the pennies we need to buy the balloon!), and problem solving (how can we help?).
The 2024-2025 Discovery Theater Season is made possible by a generous grant from the Nora Roberts Foundation
Please check back! The Learning Guide should be posted at least 2 weeks before the show.
