For groups of 10 children or more, Discovery Theater offers discounted tickets. That means your school group, your religious organization, your day care or your big family can save money off of individual ticket prices!  Also, one complimentary adult ticket will be given for every 15 children’s tickets.

Note: There are no group rates for our Weekend Performances and no group rates on the day of a show.

Group Sales & Payment Policy:

  • Please have a credit card ready when calling for reservations. This number is required to hold all group reservations and will only be processed if payment is not received by due date

  • Groups will be faxed or emailed an invoice/contract, which must be signed and returned to confirm reservations.  This invoice then needs to be turned into the Business Office/Manager at your school/organization so they can process payment.

  • Payment in full is due by the date printed on the invoice (2-4 weeks prior to performance). Nonpayment will result in processing of credit card on file. Discovery Theater accepts all major credit cards, checks, and cash as forms of payment.

  • Groups of 100 people or more are required to make a 20% deposit by credit card at the time of reservation.  Balance is due 4 weeks prior to the performance and can be made by check or by charging the same credit card.
  • NEW THIS YEAR: No group sales on the day of the show.  Group rates will only be honored for reservations made at least 48 hours prior to the performance.

  • For reservations made less than two (2) weeks before the date of the performance, payment in full is due at the time of the reservation by credit card OR within 48 hours of the performance by check/cash.  Payment is NOT accepted the day of the show by groups.

  • Cancellations MUST be made in writing by fax or email and confirmed by Discovery Theater no later than four (4) weeks prior to the performance.  If reservations are canceled less than 4 weeks prior to performance, we will issue a credit for your group to use at a future performance (no refund).

  • A confirmation ticket with show name, date, time, and location will be sent by mail once payment is received.

Seating:

  • All group leaders should check in with the Box Office upon arrival to the theater.  We will ask for the number of students and adults with you.  If you have brought less students or adults than you ordered, we will credit your account upon request.  If you have brought more students or adults than you ordered, you will be expected to pay for the extra tickets (subject to availability). 

  • Seating is general admission and groups are sat on a first come, first served basis (with few exceptions). We do our best to seat smaller children towards the front; however, we cannot do this if your group arrives late so please plan accordingly. 

  • Children are seated on the carpeted floor space, teachers are seated alongside the students in chairs, and extra adults/chaperones are asked to sit in the rear of the theater.  For everyone’s comfort and enjoyment, please figure on 1 adult per 10 students.

  • Late groups are sat at the discretion of the house manager and at a time when it will be least disruptive to other patrons.  Please keep in mind that due to stage configurations, late seating is not always possible.  There will be absolutely no late seating 15 minutes after the show has started.  Every attempt will be made to reschedule latecomers.

Cancellations/Refunds:

  • All group sales are final on your payment due date (2-4 weeks prior to show). There are NO REFUNDS on tickets canceled after that point.
  • In the case of inclement weather on the morning of your show, please call us at 202-633-8700 to hear a recorded message indicating whether or not the show will go on as scheduled.  If you are unable to attend due to poor weather conditions, school closings, or other last-minute cancellations on your part, we will attempt to reschedule your visit for a later date in our current season (based on availability).

  • Discovery Theater will only issue a refund if the federal government is closed and our shows will be cancelled for that day.
